Happy ScramblerI’m Richard Flint, though¬†most people call me Rich, and I’m a keen hillwalker and backpacker.

I first became interested in the outdoors when I started at university in Durham, when I set out to undertake the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s award. Well, that was my intention, but having completed the expedition part, I became involved with the Durham University Solar Car team and the “sport” of racing solar-powered cars. This culminated in, four years after graduating,¬†competing in the 2011 World Solar Challenge in Australia.

I had started to get back into walking in 2011, but by 2012 I was after that something extra. So I began wild camping, allowing me enjoy some extra time on the hills and mountains of Great Britain.

On this site, I shall share those adventures, along with the photographs I took to remember them by.

My intention is to post trip reports in chronological order, so that they appear more journal-like than random happenings. After all, mood and motivation affect enjoyment of the outdoors just as much as meterology.

I hope you enjoy reading.
